Trinity Laban Students’ Union presents FR*SHERS, our take on the classic university welcome week. Our team is cheeky, wild and packed with fun, so we’ve created a welcome week that matches that, with fun activities that are deffo something to write home about… depending on how strict your parents are 😉 
Just like our name, our week is big, bold, and a little bit naughty. This years events range from cheeky classics to whacky themes, with a lot of mischief in between.

FR*SHERS 2023! Come and join us for a week of parties and events to start off the new year at Trinity Laban right. From our classic Ramp it Up party, our sensational Boat Party and other events like a Drag Crafternoon Tea and IKEA trip. So come along for the ride, meet a tonne of people, and get to know the area along the way!

Move-In Weekend

Saturday & Sunday 9-10th Sept

Members of the TLSU will be situated in common area of student halls. We’re here to calm your nerves and hand out your freshers packs, and just be a friendly face in place for you to get to know us. Come say hello and ask ALL the questions!

Move in Mixer

Saturday 9th Sept from 7pm

A Casual evening at the bar right round the corner from halls with live music from students from the BMus Jazz Course. A great way to meet people outside your student flat, and people on different courses from you.

Ramp it UP!

Sunday 10th Sept from 4pm

Ramp it Up is the token first full event of Trinity Laban Freshers. So come along to Laban (only a 5 min walk from McMillian!) grab a drink, listen to some live music, get to know your other course mates! Held on the Iconic Laban ramp, guests can expect games, tunes, live music, Glitter and face paint, a food truck, and the outdoor TLSU Bar. This event invites you to be part of the traditions of TL before your term even starts!

Trinity Laban & TLSU – Let’s Swing Together

Monday 11th Sept 4pm-7pm

Join us on the first day of Induction Week in the beautiful King Charles Court’s Courtyard - Meet people, and enjoy a great afternoon with a drink from the Student Union pop-up bar. Trinity Laban's Fletcher Henderson Band will be on-site, and the workshop is designed for people with no swing experience and is super friendly to musicians. 'Swing on' into your first academic year with us.

UV Party

Monday 11th Sept from 7pm

Get your boogie on with a Neon and UV themed Disco. Enjoy yourself with a Live DJ, the TLSU Bar, UV facepaint, and bespoke glowing cocktail specials

Freshers Fair

Tuesday 12th Sept from 10am-4pm

A staple of welcome weeks world wide, our freshers fair will have food, free tea and coffee, information on supporting yourself and your health as a performer, TL Societies, Vouchers and, of course, freebies! Come and meet local companies, and meet the SU team! It's always a busy and fun day on the Ramp!

Hometown Glory

Tuesday 12th Sept from 6pm

We’re all going places, but hometown glory is about when you came from! Come as your hometown or something/ someone from it. This fancy dress event is a great opportunity to get creative. Past years have included football strips, flamenco dancers, many celebrity look alike, and a human dressed as a bath.

Drag Crafternoon Tea

Wednesday 13th Sept 3pm-5pm

We Brits love an afternoon tea. This Afternoon tea also takes you through a few craft tutorials lead by our very own President’s alter ego; Dan Drogyny. This event for those of you who aren’t into/ need a break from loud music and dancing. Materials will be provided, but if you’re already a seasoned crafter feel free to bring whatever you’re currently working on.

Drag Drag Drag

Wednesday 13th Sept from 7pm

Drag is a fine art and filled with fun. TLSU Welcomes Queera Lynn, Moira Less, and our very own Eila White to perform for you. Find out more about them on the ”Dragging you out” page; of course these queens deserved a page all of their own!

Postgrad TropiCocktails

Thursday 14th Sept from 5pm

Sorry undergrads, this ones for the PG’s.TLSU Welcomes its new Postgraduates with a tropical themed night, with a large range of cocktails and Mocktails. Best tropical shirt wins a prize!

International Student Picnic

Friday 15th Sept 12.00pm-2.00pm

Student Services are hosting an international student picnic. We’ll have free food and drinks (sandwiches, scones, tea & coffee and more). There will be games, a chance to meet the students services team and a special fun surprise! (from 13:00 onwards EVERYONE is welcome!)

Trinity Laban & TLSU – Let's Sing Together

Friday 15th Sept 2pm-5pm

Celebrate the closure of induction week with a journey of singing and thinking. Alexander Douglas brings together a great list of easy singing pieces from various genres and styles and redefines what Gospel Music could mean to us in our time. The workshop is designed for everyone, with and without singing or choir experience, and is super friendly to dancers. We hope to have our collective sharing at the end of the workshop on the lawn outside the Laban Building, and this is the best chance to check out our award-winning campus – Laban Building. Sing-along and kick-start your first year at Trinity Laban with us.

Ceilidh

Friday 15th Sept from 6pm

A Ceilidh is a social event with Scottish or Irish folk music and singing, traditional dancing, and storytelling. We'll be leaning into folk music from all over the UK played by our wonderful Folk Society. No dance experience necessary, with tutorials and calling done by TL Allumna Ellie Daft.

IKEA Trip

Saturday 16th Sept 11/11.30am

There's always something you forget when you move. it's the most annoying thing in the world when you realise you've moved to your new place without any forks, or a pasta strainer or pillow cases. We're here to accompany you to the magical land of Ikea to get whatever you forgot, or didn't know you needed. And if you have everything you need? There's always those sweet sweet Swedish meatballs.

Your first proper Saturday night in London is the club night at Badger Badger in Deptford. They've even made a speciality cocktail for us! Capacity is limited so get there quick.

Fr*aky Fairytales

Sunday 17th Sept from 5pm

In past years we've hosted Dirty Disney but this year we're opening it up to all fairytales from all walks of life. Expect all sorts of costumes ranging through dreamworks and disney all the way back to the works of the Brothers Grimm. From Spicy Shrek to Scary Snow white, we want to see imagination, creativity, weirdness and wonder. Featuring our Shrekcellent band, The Ogretones fulfilling all the Shrek Music you could ever need!

Freshers Debrief Quiz

Monday 18th Sept from 7pm

Got what it takes to win? Spend the evening at your new local watering hole, The Bar Downstairs. Trinity Laban's own Student Only Bar. This evening we will spend the night competing in the yearly freshers quiz.

Boat Party

Monday 2nd Oct. Pizza Party at 6pm. Boarding at 7pm. Home by midnight

Set apart from the rest of our FR*SHERS events, our legendary boat party is a cut above! No on the door tickets are available for this event, book now as tickets are like gold dust! Sail with us along the Thames to Tower Bridge and dance to our live band Aluminati, who as you may guess are all TL Alumni.

We’ve got three very exciting online events to keep you entertained even when you’re living it up at our in person events!

Scavenger Hunt

Deadline Tuesday 19th Sept

Get together a team and work together to complete as many tasks as possible from our list in the local area, while getting to know your new surroundings, and having a giggle. Tasks are worth points, and the team who has completed the most by Sunday 17th at Noon wins a prize!

Murder Mystery

TBCth Sept

If you fancy yourself as the next Sherlock Holmes or Benoit Blanc, join our team as they draw you into a murder most foul. Gather evidence and watch interviews with suspects and let us know who you think is an innocent bystander, and who is not what they appear. Reward given for catching the murderer and getting them banged to rights.

FR*SHERS Feast

Sunday 17th Sept

Some of you will be new to cooking your own meals and some of you will already be gourmet connoisseurs. Post pictures of your meals on Instagram and put #TLSUFreshersFeast in your caption. TLSU Is offering prizes for Best looking meal - Worst looking meal - Best group meal
